THE CHALLENGE_

AHEL supports those pursuing change in the Arab world in organising their power and leadership to achieve justice in their causes. They do that in three ways. They accompany and coach campaigns in their collective action. They teach participatory leadership and community organising practices to leaders online and offline. And they connect leaders in the Arab world with each other. Their success is when leaders and campaigns build their own people’s power and when they win the change they seek for freedom, justice and equality.

The main challenge was to transform highly abstract concepts into simple stand-alone media objects that convey the key messages in a way that people without any prior knowledge could understand. The media objects were intended to be used in social media as well as visual aids during facilitated workshops; so, they needed to be simple and engaging in their design, while providing comprehensive and meaningful content.

Bridget Leigh Snell Head of Learning, Oxfam

“Working with Kashida on developing material for e-learning enabled hundreds of humanitarian workers in hard-to-reach areas to access knowledge and new skills that enabled them to improve the quality of their work and their ability to liase with international donors; Kashida’s team has been flexible and cooperative trying to identify every possible solution to deliver high quality products while addressing the poor quality of internet in remote locations where our partners are.”

THE SOLUTION_

We created explainer animations mainly to explain concepts, and we created infographics mainly to describe methodologies and techniques. We relied heavily on storytelling, examples, and scenarios to make the content relatable and easy to understand and apply. We also designed diagrams that translated abstract concepts into memorable visuals.

The outcome was 18 media objects between animations and infographics that received more than 50,000 likes on social media and reached more than half a million users within three months after project completion.

The client shared positive feedback with regards to their experience in working with us on the development of these media objects, specifically citing that it enabled them to better understand how to convey their content to the learners both visually and pedagogically.
