RIYALI’S MANAGED LEARNING SOLUTION
Created by and launched in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Riyali is one of the leading financial awareness programmes. Targeting a diverse range of individuals, starting from age nine up, the programme is designed to develop knowledge and skills of financial awareness to more than 1,700,000 students within the Kingdom.
Having been a Kashida client since 2016, Riyali came to us confident in the knowledge that we could deliver to their unique learning requirements and create a truly exceptional, accessible and user-friendly learning experience. And we did not disappoint.

MEASURABLE IMPACT_
MEETING A COMPLEX LEARNING NEED_
Backed by the Ministry of Education, this gargantuan initiative required a modern learning solution that was readily available to a broad target audience across multiple channels. They wanted this online learning experience to directly complement the face-to-face content being delivered in schools and directly address the Ministry’s 2030 vision.
In order to meet their ambitious goals, Riyali was not only looking for a sophisticated combination of learning assets and content, but they also needed a modern learning management system to deliver all this digital learning to their audience.
Riyali had a variety of key requirements for this project:
- Meet the needs and expectations of a very broad, diverse audience across the entire Kingdom
- Ensure all learning content and experiences are accessible to each and every person
- Create learning content that’s relevant for the target audience and aligned with local culture
- Reach learners consistently across several key channels
- Unify Riyalis’ partnerships with key governmental entities by managing stakeholder engagement and relationships
- Uphold the existing Riyali brand and sustain the high-quality status of the offering
A MODERN AND ROBUST LMS_
Our expert consultants and Learning Experience Designers worked collaboratively with Riyali to develop a solution that was not only visually unique, but also designed to meet their goals.
After an extensive discovery process, we got to work developing a bespoke learning management system using Open EdX. This platform is very dynamic and ensured that Riyali could service over 4000 concurrent learners, whilst also delivering different courses to target audiences in both English and Arabic.
On top of that, ensuring that the platform was accessibility friendly was critical – so we focused on meeting level AA of WCAG standards to guarantee that the learning experience was fully inclusive, regardless of an individual’s requirements.

PLATFORM MANAGEMENT, CONTENT ENGAGEMENT_
Because Riyali are constantly adding new content to their learning management system, we also recommended that they introduce a content strategy to manage this effectively, This ensured that the content we created was structured and aligned to present goals, whilst future content was clear, purposeful, cohesive and ultimately, goal-oriented.
We developed this content strategy, and focused heavily on execution through two key managed services: platform management and content engagement. This two pronged approach meant that Riyali had a highly monitored learning platform that was always kept up-to-date, whilst also being readily refreshed with relevant content such as podcasts, emails, blogs and more.
INCREDIBLE IMPACT AND RESULTS_
Riyali’s learning platform has 1,703,733 learners to date, which is already a phenomenal feat. However, our project also elevated learner engagement, shifted learner behaviour and bolstered brand sentiment too. Here are some of the key results:
- Over 697,000 website visitors in 2021, showing a 68% increase year on year
- Over 1 million LMS visitors, compared to just 10,000 in 2020
- A huge boost in learner behaviour, with 79% of learners showing an increase in financial knowledge
- Learners also changed their financial behaviours as a result, with 68% investing or thinking about it, 81% starting budgeting and 86% started saving
- Increase in their NPS score from 42 to 50, signifying a positive uplift in attitudes towards Riyali
The results don’t stop there. The LMS had over 431,000 enrollments in the last year and their podcast has seen over 15,000 downloads. Furthermore, this initiative has been widely recognised for its impact on the Kingdom, winning Gold in the 2018 Learning Technologies Awards and two Silver awards in the 2022 Gulf Sustainability Awards in the ‘Best Community Development Program’ and ‘Best Learning and Education Program’ categories.
Riyali came to Kashida with an ambitious idea – and we helped to truly bring this idea to life, whilst also achieving all of Riyali’s core objectives.
